Although it is not known why December 25 became a date of celebration, there are several factors that may have influenced the choice. December 25 was the date the Romans marked as the winter solstice, the shortest and darkest day of the year, and the first day in which the days would begin to elongate and the Sun would have a longer presence in the sky. Jesus was identified with the Sun based on an Old Testament verse, and the date is exactly nine months following Annunciation, when the conception of Jesus is celebrated, which is one theory on what may have influenced the timing of the Christmas holiday.

The visuals normally involve a family with children, snow, a performing animal and some sleigh bells at the end.
The idea is to hit the viewers in the baubles and make them think about family, getting older and absent friends — you know, stir up the emotions . . . and it works |

These ads are put together so well that children and families will watch them over and over again. They’re like little two-minute short films.
I REALLY can’t get my head around why people hit the snooze button in the morning. You’re just fooling yourself and making yourself late. I’m of the opinion that if you snooze, you lose! |
My alarm goes off, I turn it off and I’m hitting the floor.
There’s no time for lovely little snoozes. They just make you more tired anyway, I reckon. However, I think I might be alone on this one as everyone I speak to sets multiple alarms on their phones. One guy I know sets TEN. |
